Lifewire: Scam AI Apps Are Tricking Users

Users are being lured into costly subscriptions by a new wave of AI chatbot applications that fail to perform as promised. Josh Davies spoke to Lifewire about the risks of using such apps and how to protect yourself from these scams.

Apps will ask for access to your device's information such as your location, contacts, and even screen recording capabilities. These permissions are required for legitimate apps to perform their core functions, so people are used to granting access, but it can be abused to obtain your data, monitor your locations, or spy on your activity.”
