Diego Andres Barbosa Trujillo

Diego Andres Barbosa Trujillo is a Data Scientist at Fortra, where he develops machine learning models to identify cybersecurity risks and threats in email communications. His current work focuses on detecting brand and individual impersonation attacks by applying advanced machine learning and statistical techniques to improve threat detection and protection.

Before joining Fortra in May 2024, Diego earned a Ph.D. in High Energy Physics and spent five years at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, working as a research data scientist within the CMS Collaboration. His research involved analyzing massive datasets to search for new particles, leveraging grid computing, machine learning, and sophisticated statistical methods to uncover patterns in complex scientific data.

With a background that bridges scientific research and cybersecurity, Diego specializes in machine learning, Bayesian methods, statistical modeling, information theory, quantum computation, and quantum theory. He is passionate about evidence-based decision-making, scientific research, and continuous learning, and enjoys applying rigorous analytical approaches to solve challenging problems.
