Microsoft SharePoint is a powerful business collaboration platform. For many organizations, SharePoint is a mission critical component of their operations; it facilitates intranet portals, extranets and websites, document management and file management, collaboration spaces, social networking tools, enterprise search, business intelligence tooling and process/information integration. For IT, in particular, SharePoint helps the team focus on and communicate about business priorities.
However, SharePoint can be difficult to navigate for many users, not to mention that maintaining your SharePoint site and constantly uploading and monitoring the status of your documents is extremely time-consuming.
That’s where SharePoint automation comes in. Automate’s native SharePoint integration enables businesses to integrate SharePoint into workflows with disparate applications across their network. Automate's pre-built SharePoint actions and drag-and-drop interface automate the management and administration of SharePoint users, sites, libraries, workflows, and lists. Automate provides the capability to automate all SharePoint business and IT processes on a single platform.
SharePoint Automation Features
Looking to implement SharePoint automation in your organization? Here are the key features which allow you to streamline SharePoint-related processes.
No code automation
The simple drag-and-drop interface provides a code-free, single platform for administrators to:
Control and query SharePoint workflows letting you design flow processes to execute different tasks and handle exceptions and errors.
Eliminate latency, errors, and operational costs that manual administration of tasks can present.
Automate the management of SharePoint views - create, deploy, delete, update, and list views automatically.

Automatically download and upload files
- Files can be automatically uploaded, downloaded, or integrated with existing applications
- Check files in and out automatically
- Send notification of file updates
See how simple these processes are in the following tutorials:
Monitor SharePoint folders and workflows
To execute SharePoint monitoring, Automate implements event-driven automation through Automate triggers. A trigger is an event that kicks off a process without any need for manual intervention. The SharePoint trigger can start an automated workflow by monitoring when an item is uploaded, downloaded, checked in, checked out, moved, deleted, updated, or more.
Manage SharePoint users, groups and user alerts
Allows for management and administration of SharePoint users, groups and alerts through a drag-and-drop interface.
Initiate a backup/restore of a SharePoint site
With Automate’s enhanced features for SharePoint, you can automatically backup and restore your SharePoint site. The ability to backup whole sites from the server level with just a few clicks means that your SharePoint site is easy to maintain and remains up to date for your company’s continued collaboration.
SharePoint Actions
The SharePoint action within Automate combines capabilities for automation of both administrative tasks, such as adding Users and business tasks such as adding new documents and updating sites. The workflows below show a few examples of how this functionality can be used:

SharePoint Automation in Business
An example workflow: An Automate task is triggered by an email attachment delivered to a specific mailbox. The task analyzes the attachment, determines that certain criteria are met, and feeds the contents of the attachment to an ERP process. After the ERP process is completed, the data is persisted in a SQL database. An Excel report is generated, uploaded to SharePoint, and emailed to a supervisor.
SharePoint Automation in IT
An example workflow: An Automate task is triggered by the presence of a new employee record in a SQL database. The task creates a new Active Directory user, a new contact in Exchange, adds the user to a group in SharePoint, and emails an IT administrator.
